What I Want from the MCU Going Forward

Now the Avengers: Infinity War has taken place and Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 are all coming up to wrap up Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, what about Phase 4?

Well, firstly, before I get into what I want to see with Phase 4, let’s touch on what’s pretty much a certain already. Phase 4 will include a Spider-Man sequel and the end of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. A Black Panther sequel will for sure happen and there’s rumors of a Black Widow movie. There will likely be a third Ant-Man movie to end that trilogy and with fans wanting a fourth Thor film, it’s possible that could happen as well. Now, let’s talk about what I want in a handy list.

  1. Galactus to be the next main villain for The Avengers

There’s no telling who will survive Avengers 4 or what will happen but we all know the MCU will continue on regardless. It’s likely the case that The Avengers will also continue on as well by likely pulling a Star Trek and having fresh new faces fill in the holes left by the veterans, mainly Captain American, Iron Man and possibly Thor. So, with that, there needs to be a villain that could top Thanos in scale and epicness and that would be Galactus. Since Fox will now be a part of Disney, they now have the rights to use Galactus after the travesty of Rise of the Silver Surfer. Instead of being a giant space cloud, my hope is that Galactus would actually appear more like he does in the comics with more human features and just a giant. The threat would be big enough as Galactus would likely want to eat Earth. The only downside is he likely won’t have the same emotional arc that Thanos did and will just be a big bad dude, but we’ll see.

2. Fantastic Four buy Avengers Tower

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, it was said that Avengers tower was bought in New York City. While this has already been talked about, I would love to see the Fantastic Four take residence in that tower.

3. Luke Cage becomes an Avenger

With no change in actor, I would love to see Luke Cage step into the limelight alongside Spider-Man and other Avengers. Cage is the most capable of dealing with the threats the Avengers face as he’s literally indestructible. Cage could easily measure up with Captain America and Bucky, and it would be nice for the TV shows to finally be acknowledged by the films in this way.

4. Spider-Man interacts with Daredevil

This is a bit of a stretch but I would like for Daredevil to at least be a cameo in a future MCU film as the two are local New York heroes. It happened often in the comic and could lead to Spider-Man interacting with The Punisher, Jessica Jones or Luke Cage. It would be more great if Spider-Man and Daredevil battled Kingpin to end that character’s story in the MCU. After all, Spider-Man has gone toe to toe with Kingpin in the comics.

5. Not the entire X-Men, but Wolverine

Many have thought, how in the hell is Marvel going to introduce the X-Men? Well, don’t. Let the X-Men die, but bring back its golden boy, Wolverine. While Hugh Jackman doesn’t want to play him anymore, there are plenty of actors that could fill that spot. Wolverine is more of an anti-hero and could easily be introduced as a guy who avoided all of the previous fights the Avengers faced, while introducing the X-Men would make less sense because they wouldn’t be absent for the Loki invasion or Thanos.

6. Shuri becomes the Black Panther in Avengers 4

While there’s talks about having an all-female Black Panther, I would personally love to see Shuri become the Black Panther while T’Challa is “dead” in the mean time. She did it in the comics and knows of the tech. It would be great to see.

7. Thor, Captain America and Iron Man become cameos

Since Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.’s contracts are up after Avengers 4, it would likely be easier to negioate with them on being future cameos then full fledged films. Thor would be a better cameo after Avengers 4 as he’ll likely focus on being king for what’s left of the Asgardians, (also please make them be in Norway as Odin said). This way, they become more sidelined but they are still there as somewhat retired. This way they let Captain Marvel, Spider-Man and Black Panther run the Avengers.

8. Less Villain Deaths

The one thing Black Panther pissed me off about was the death of Ulysses Klaue. Just, why? Anyways, one reason I liked Spider-Man: Homecoming, was The Vulture didn’t die. This needs to happen more in the MCU especially when the villain’s death isn’t needed yet. Villains like Dr. Doom, Shocker, Scorpion, and others could play a part in future films and give them more character. This is why so many liked Loki, because he was given a ton of film to develop his character and that’s why when he did die in Infinity War, it was impactful rather than well, he’s dead now. Some villains make sense like Killmonger, Malekith and Hela. However, not every villain needs to die just because.

9. Black Widow needs to be a prequel

The Black Widow movie should be a prequel when it is done. It could be very different than any other Marvel film and be more of a spy flick. I would love to see the meeting of Hawkeye and Black Widow as told by Natasha in The Avengers. The intense fighting and how Hawkeye spares Black Widow. While it’d be predictable in that we know how it ends, it could add depth to both of those characters’ relationships and give more meaning to the previous films we watched with them such as when she lost Hawkeye to Loki in the first Avengers. Imagine if we saw that backstory and then that happening. It would add more depth to that story.

10. Introduction of Namor

Namor’s film would likely be a lot like Black Panther, but underwater and Atlantis as it’s a secrety country as well. Already, Namor has been an easter egg in Iron Man 2, but we need an official introduction into the underwater world. With the money Marvel makes, it could be done. I want Namor. I want him. I don’t like Aquaman.

Anyway, that’s my little top 10 list of things I want, I’ll probably think of more things in the future so I’ll probably just add them in the comments. Anyways, enjoy your day!
